Garlic Wards Off Heart Disease. And On The Same, Related Note; We Discuss Overpopulation.
And also vampires…
But, I would still cook with it even if it didn’t.
It seems like everybody is dying of something or other these days.
What am I talking about.. of COURSE people are dying. Personally, maybe it’s a good idea to have population control. Albeit in a rather nasty form of disease or cancer.
Have you noticed how horrible the population number seems to be getting up to these days? Everybody has a say about global warming, and about how natural resources are being lowered, and the like. Think about it. Did it occur to anybody that this is because there’s too many people trying to use things at once?
Overpopulation. That there is a report on it. Check it. I’m thinking that if we can cause natural resources to dwindle, we could sure as hell raise the temperature of the earth a few degrees. Bodies are hot! (98.6 Fahrenheit to be exact). If cows in the United States can raise the methane levels of the earth’s atmosphere, I think a bunch of overpopulated homes can raise the temperature.
Is anybody catching what I’m getting at? There’s too many people! I can’t stand how there’s so many of us, and stuck in such close confines. I’m thinking there’s a solution. Maybe… Birth control? Or at least we could be like China. One kid per family. Nah.. that’s harsh. How about…2. You’re replacing yourself.
I’m tired of hearing about people having 15 kids..at once. It’s absolutely insane.
Ay.. I suppose I could live and let live.. But where’s the fun in that?
Like our blog? Then give it a thumbs up and
Stumble It!

I read it, wasn’t actually that impressed. The argument that “all nations” are overpopulated is illogical and very much does not examine all nations and is, frankly, inaccurate. Also, while I can appreciate that the author at least mentioned that there is a difference between the amount of resources a wealth person uses and a poor one he went no further on that point (such as calling for cutbacks in consumption, fossil fuel use, or pollution) by developed nations.
It does look like a website by someone who read a little Malthus, read/watched a little on environment, and put up the site.
I disagree with Malthus and would like to point out that not only have his predictions (famine, suffering, and so on) been wrong in the past. But when authorities acted on Malthus’s suggestions it only ended increasing suffering in the area they administered.
Lastly, measuring if humans should be allowed to exist by resources available is like saying someone has to die so I can drive an SUV. It very much does not examine if humans can live somewhere and frequently gives a pass to high consumption but low birthrate populations (who are also responsible for most pollution worldwide).

Ah.. A very logical commentary on the words I issued.
I wasn’t aiming for anybody to be impressed, just to put a brief concept forward, and at least get someone thinking.
It appears to me I did.

I’d like to point out that (1) this is called a blog POST. This website is not about the environment (although that is certainly a good topic to expand on.) (2) Posts can be about anything. Read some of the other ones. Maybe reading our (or indeed many others’ ) posts will hopefully broaden anyone’s views. (3) No, nobody has to die so you can drive an SUV. Usually, the SUV driving comes first, and the dying comes soon after. Not to mention the expensive gas bill and toxic gases released into the environment. (4) Have you ever seen a population of people that did NOT grow? That’s what we’re born to do. To quote Slipknot: ‘Mate. Kill. Feed. Repeat.’ (5) It’s too late to rely on previous natural resources. We have maybe 50 years of oil left. To wrap it up: Unless you can tell that this post is somewhat humorous from the title, you shouldn’t be reading it or indeed any and all other posts on my site. Lighten up.

First of all, Venice is not going to be gone in 50 years unless it is suddenly hit by a tsunami which is near impossible. Second of all, you’re the one taking that dude’s comments to seriously, Scentless Apprentice. And, finally, anyone should be allowed to read your blogs, even if they are conservative, as the writings in your blog may help change their minds. So YOU lighten up.

Um…yeah… but conservatives generally strangle you when you encroach on their ideas.
The Scentless Apprentice said this on June 3, 2008 at 9:51 pm |
and you don’t encroach on conservatives when they tell of their ideas

Actually much of Western Europe would be facing a shrinking population without immigration today (this year). So yes, populations can and have shrunk without a major disaster, disease, or war. However, last I looked the pollution levels coming from Europe actually went up a little. My hope is that increased efforts on their part to be environmental will serve to reverse this trend. (The sooner the better.)
But that is how we can end up slowing (and hopefully stopping) global warming (granted, even Europe has a way to go in this regard), deal with the economies (a factor I would argue vastly surpasses population level in importance) that are its source.
I hope in the very near future US will be more concerned about Global Warming (find a US conservative that will tell you that).
The point about SUVs are that they are a waste of resources and claiming that the population needs to be limited due to a lack of resources fails to recognize how those resources should (or shouldn’t) be used in addition to being a few things but not humanitarian.
Thank you caitydid, I’m glad you’re happy. And thank you Terrasini, for trying to promote fairness (though I’m not sure I fall into the conservative side of the political spectrum).

Nothing here makes any SCENTS or SCENSE! You write a post – “Garlic Wards Off Heart Disease” and then the Senseless Apprentice attempts to “Ward Off” any conservative readers:
“Read some of the other ones. Unless you’re a conservative. If you are then go away and forget you ever came here.”
So … Does garlic ward off heart disease, or just conservatives? One thing I do know is that garlic has nothing to do with closemindedness, which is the theme of this blog.

Neddy, once again you have managed to kill the spirit of this blog. You need to get out and joke once in a while. I said that because any of the conservatives I know seem to yell at me when they read my posts. Apparently I’m a radical. Chill, dude, we’re not out to get you. Just trying to get some laughs. And I’m not quite sure how our theme is closed mindedness, after all, I ask for people’s honest opinions, as long as they don’t get all negative. I’m not trying to ‘ward off’ conservatives, but they don’t seem to like what I have to say. In consideration of your… concern… I have changed the ‘offending comment’.
P.S. It’s spelled SENSE. Not ‘scense’. Use the spell checker, for it is your friend.
P.P.S. I appreciate your feedback on my posts, but would you mind not always being so negative? A good way to criticize people is to start with something good, then the problem, and then end with something good. Now that is something I did learn from Family Guy

you sound like the catholic church—first thank the lord, then say the negative
